You can participate to Wiki Loves Monuments by taking pictures of official historic sites according to the Canadian Register of Historic Places (CRHP) and uploading them in September. You can see the lists of monuments to the right. For your picture to be eligible, you can take it anytime, as long as you upload it into Commons in September by using the appropriate form.
Rules to be eligible to the contest:
You must take the picture yourself;
The site on the picture must be in the Canadian Register of Historic Places (see their website);
You must accept to put your pictures under the license CC-BY-SA 3.0 (details).
To make a photo of an historic place and be eligible for Wiki Loves Monuments competition, you must first find if your photo is one the Historic Places in the Canadian repertoire. See the lists (on the right) or do a search on the official website Canada's Historic Places. If you already have pictures of historic places, it doesn't matter when you took them, as long as you upload them between September 1st and 30th (midnight, eastern time).
Taking Pictures
Here are some tips to increase your chances of winning the contest.
Set the camera to the highest resolution. Take several photos of the historic site that you want to photograph. Later you can choose the best, or upload all if they all beautiful.
Keep track of the numbers of Historic Places as you shoot, you will need these identifiers when you téléverserez your photos. We recommend that you make a list of numbers in advance, but you can find these numbers later.
If you take a picture of an architectural detail, such as a tower or a gate, also made a picture of the entire object to the context.
If you want to take pictures inside, ask the permission of the person responsible for the place.
