Movement Learning and Leadership Development Project[edit]

Hello

The Wikimedia Foundation’s Community Development team is seeking to learn more about the way volunteers learn and develop into the many different roles that exist in the movement. Our goal is to build a movement informed framework that provides shared clarity and outlines accessible pathways on how to grow and develop skills within the movement. To this end, we are looking to speak with you, our community to learn about your journey as a Wikimedia volunteer. Whether you joined yesterday or have been here from the very start, we want to hear about the many ways volunteers join and contribute to our movement.

To learn more about the project, please visit the Meta page. If you are interested in participating in the project, please complete this simple Google form. Although we may not be able to speak to everyone who expresses interest, we encourage you to complete this short form if you are interested in participating!

The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.

The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!

Proposals for new project: WikiPoetry[edit]

Hey everyone, I apologize if this is the wrong place to put this; I've already posted this in the Meta-Wiki forum, and I thought it would also be great to share it with some fellow Canadians. I just proposed the creation of WikiPoetry which is a project that, in essence, allows for the publishing of poetry from around the world. Similar to Wikimedia Commons, it has a creative side, with anyone being able to publish poetry that they create (just like anyone can upload fair-use images to Commons), but it also has a more reference side, with well-known poetry also being shown on the site. If a poem is published elsewhere, it should only be edited if there are errors, obviously, but I also think that WikiPoetry would allow for collaborative poetry where anyone can make creative edits to each-others poems. I think it would be an awesome addition to the Wikimedia projects, and I'm curious about what you all think: feedback, suggestions, criticism, etc. If you like the idea, please join on as an interested participant and please make improvements to the proposal, as well. Thanks!

If I have posted this where it shouldn't be, please delete it. My apologies!

Movement strategy implemention[edit]

Is Wikimedia Canada involved in the discussions about the implementation of the Wikimedia 2030 Movement Strategy global priorities? A number of communities and affiliates have made statements. Is there interest in contributing? Vexations (talk) 23:34, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
