Is the contest free?[edit]
Yes, there is no cost to participate. You must only become a member of Wikimedia Commons (free account) and register to the contest. The same account can be used for other Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia.
When can I take pictures?[edit]
Any time. The contest takes place during the whole month of July, but you can submit pictures taken at any time, even ones taken several years ago. The only rule is to upload them to Commons between July 1st and July 31st, 2020.
Am I allowed to retouch my pictures?[edit]
Yes. You can retouch your picture with any software, but you cannot make big alterations such as adding or removing objects.
Can I submit any type of pictures?[edit]
No, they must represent a recognized natural protected area from the list. See the list list here.
Can I submit pictures taken in another country?[edit]
Yes, if that country also participates in the Wiki Loves Earth contest and it is an official recognized protected area of that country. However, you will have to upload it through the upload wizard of that country and you will be eligible for the contest of that country. See the International website of Wiki Loves Earth.
