Hey, James. I was thinking that rather than writing our userpages like people do on Wikipedia (where they usually start with "I am" or "This is the page of"), we should copy the format of corporate sites and just include a one-paragraph professional biography written in the third-person (plus a link to wikipedia profiles if we want). –Jeffery Nichols 22:37, 9 February 2011 (MST)
- Yes I like that idea. --Doc James 22:47, 9 February 2011 (MST)
Hello, I thought the score of members were not sufficient for the Berlin conference, so I spent the day checking all potential volunteers for Wikimedia Canada. I removed all the volunteers banned / doubles in the last five years and the list is now updated. Feel free to use it during the conference. Antaya 00:28, 21 March 2011 (EDT)
Thanks...

Please comment - Policy formation
[edit]James, I think Ray has drafted a good Policy Formation policy. I have posted some comments about removing/rewording it to not permit board decisions outside of the scheduled meetings. I think it would be smart for us to approve some version of this policy at the next board meeting and keep the controversial components open for debate. As 90% of what he wrote I think we would all agree is reasonable and it would give us a basic framework to start from. Alan.ca 06:41, 7 April 2011 (EDT)
Merci Doc
[edit]Pour moi, c'est un plaisir de contribuer activement au Wikimédia Canada, j'espère participer à l'année prochaine en personne. --Wilfredor 13:15, 14 April 2011 (EDT)
Vandalism.
[edit]The site isn't yet so big or the spammer/vandals too numerous to make that job so big. I have had some concerns about the regular stream of strange names that have signed up for accounts. Most have not engaged in direct vandalism. They could be linked to some kind of tracking or spidering. Running a checkuser on these could be helpful but that technique is beyond my abilities. Saturday meetings
[edit]I hate to commit to Saturday meetings. I never know ahead of time what Christine might want to plan for me. What I like about Wednesdays is the predictability. As was mentioned in our last meeting it's important for the general membership to tell them that we meet regularly at some place and time where they can just pop in. I think that a similar principle should apply for the executive. Eclecticology 17:43, 21 October 2011 (EDT)
The meeting times in the text and in the chart don't match.
Do we really need for the list of attendees to be on a separate page; it's never going to be very long. Eclecticology 01:42, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
- Fixed. The page for listing attendees works well except most people do not use it. Do not think changing will make any difference.--Doc James 11:43, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
- What there is for this now for this is the template {{:Meetings/Participants}}. Unless a person knows where to look they won't use it, and this may be even more the case for an AGM. Absent any strong objection, I propose to merge it in so that a person can sign up directly, and to also merge in the contents of these subpage for past meetings. - (LOL. I had remarked about the time without noticing that the year was wrong.) For now the text says 19:00 EST, but the chart says 18:00 EDT. (Two hours apart????) I'll change the text to match the chart. Let me know if I have it wrong. Eclecticology 13:39, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
touched
[edit]I'm touched that you would offer a scholarship of your own money for a WMF project. I followed you here, I don't know how, as I didn't even know this site existed. I wish I still had belief. Best wishes, MathewTownsend 23:02, 19 April 2012 (EDT)
Thanks Again James
[edit]Hi James,
Thanks again for your time today. How can I get more involved with Wikimedia Canada? I finally signed up, now what?
IOU noted. --Jaobar 19:15, 20 April 2012 (EDT)

Open Medicine
[edit]I was just reading this, having linked to it from Michael Geist's blog. It seems that the "struggle to create a sustainable economic model" is a common problem. Eclecticology 14:43, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
