Volunteering with Wikimedia Canada
[edit]I have been a member of the Board of Wikimedia Canada since the 2016 AGM. I also serve as the Treasurer.
As the Treasurer, I have been working towards the ultimate goal of moving Wikimedia Canada into registered charity status. Together with other members of the board and our fantastic volunteer team, I:
- secured the advice and services of volunteer accountants,
- reviewed all financial records of Wikimedia Canada,
- managed the various bank accounts and expenses of Wikimedia Canada,
- reported on our financial health to the Wikimedia Foundation and our members
As a member of the board, I have provided advice and strategic direction based on my years of training and experience with other boards.
In the fall of 2016, I rewrote the donation webpages so that they would be accessible. Earlier this summer, I redesigned these pages so that they work correctly on mobile devices.
I have since migrated these pages to GitHub where they are now available for contributions by all community members.
