From Wikimedia Canada

Description

[edit]

Ada Lovelace Day Wikithon - Montreal: October 10, 2018 4-6pm at McGill University Library

We aim to create or expand on Wikipedia pages for women scientists.

The 2-hour event will include a presentation by McGill Librarians on how to edit Wikipedia pages followed by a session for participants to edit/create pages on Wikipedia. The goal of the event is for participants to learn and go on to improve gender representation of scientists on Wikipedia (either at the event or on their own time).

List of participants

[edit]

We expect 30 participants.

Mary-Rose Bradley-Gill is a co-lead of this event who will incur the expenses.

Activity Report

[edit]

About 25 people attended. Attendees learned how to edit Wikipedia pages while enjoying some snacks. The event was also part of the outreachdashboard Ada Lovelace Day where participants added changes to women scientist pages that were included on that dashboard. The event pushed us to create a mailing list with attendees to continue the work on a more regular basis.
