Goal 1: Develop and disseminate free knowledge[edit]

Actions:

  1. Facilitating edit-a-thons and other types of contribution workshops to Wikimedia projects.
  2. Continuing the project with the Atikamekw communities to develop the new Wikipetia Atikamekw Nehiromowin.
  3. Organizing the Canadian National Contribution Month.
  4. Conducting photographic contests such as Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Takes Your City, and WikiCheese.

Goal 2: Promote the use of free information resources[edit]

Actions:

  1. Conducting training sessions to teach how to use and how to contribution to Wikimedia projects.
  2. Supporting the French language WikiMOOC.
  3. Promoting the Wikimedia movement and the chapter at relevant public events.
  4. Maintaining a strong online presence to share information on the programs and activities of the chapter, and engage the Canadian communities.

Goal 3: Collaborate with GLAMUs and other Wikimedia organizations[edit]

Actions:

  1. Strengthening the relationships with Bibliothèques et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) and Library and Archives Canada (LAC).
  2. Hosting contribution workshops and training sessions in partnerships with the GLAMUs.
  3. Collaborating with OpenStreetMaps and organize joint workshops.
  4. Assisting academics and other educators to use Wikimedia projects in class.
  5. Collaborating with other Wikimedia organizations, including WikiFrance, Cascadia Wikimedians, North American Wikimedia chapters and user groups, WikiProject Education and Wiki Education Foundation.
  6. Participating in the WikiConvention and Wikimedia-related events in North America.

Goal 4: Support the growth of regional and local groups across Canada[edit]

Actions:

  1. Promoting the creation of regional and local groups of Wikimedia Canada
  2. Providing financial, material, logistical, educational and administrative support to the local and regional groups of Wikimedia Canada
  3. Supporting and enabling small projects and initiatives from single member or a small group of members of Wikimedia Canada or other volunteers to carry out their own projects and activities that are aligned with our mission and the Wikimedia movement's vision
  4. Offering opportunities to Canadian contributors to attend real-life events and organize meetups.

Goal 5: Achieve and maintain a high level of corporate maturity[edit]

Actions:

  1. Putting in place and maintaining efficient systems for membership management, record keeping, financial accounting and reporting, communications, and other needed policies.
  2. Obtaining Charity Status with the federal governement of Canada.
  3. Retaining the services of professional staff to assist with tasks such as fundraising, financial accounting, auditing and reporting, and communications, where not meeting the association's obligations can result in serious adverse consequences.
  4. Employing a paid staff as an office manager to support our programs and our volunteers by managing financial, logistical and administrative aspects of projects and other obligations of the association.
  5. Occupying the office space in Bibliothèques et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ).
