Wiki Loves Earth is an international photo contest of natural protected areas. 2017 will be the first edition in Canada. It coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation during which Parks Canada offer free admission to all national parks.
Remember that all it takes to participate is to find a protected area near-by, photograph it, and submit a photo of it for the competition. You can win a prize and help Wikipedia.
Concept[edit]
The aim of the competition is to collect photos of natural protected sites such as national parks to illustrate articles in the worldwide free encyclopedia Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. In Canada, the contest covers national as well as provincial parks.
Rules[edit]
During the dates of the competition, you can upload your photos of the natural protected areas listed in one of the lists below on Wikimedia Commons. The photos can have been taken at any time, but need to be uploaded during those dates. You also need to put your photos under a free license. At the end of the competition, a Canadian jury will choose the winners as well as an international jury.
To participate, you need to have an account on Wikimedia Commons. You can create one for free.
