On January 24, 2018, Ana-Laura Baz, Project Manager at the Museum of Civilization contacted me to find out if I could attend a Fica-Café (conference break followed by a question period). She wanted me to talk about GLAM-Wiki projects in Quebec and project opportunities for the Museum. So I prepared a PowerPoint presentation for the occasion as well as a little research on the presence of the Museum in Wikimedia projects (Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, Wikisource). It was only in the morning (following work at the Museum that might make the conference impossible to give) that I had confirmation of my participation. The conference was held on February 5th, 2018.

Conference on GLAM projects presented to employees of the Musée de la civilization. The purpose was to present the Museum's contribution opportunities to Wiki projects. Examples of BAnQ, the A9math% C3% A8que_qu% C3% A9b% C3% A9coise Cinémathèque and the Open Book Library were presented in addition to portraying the current state of the Museum's presence in Wiki projects. A reflection on the possibilities of contributions was also presented.
Following the presentation, the project manager told me that the Museum was fond of hiring a Wikipedian in residence. It also intends to address the issue of rights to use digital collections. The Museum has uploaded more than 6,000 digital documents online, but they are licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 2.5 CA, which is not compatible with Wikimedia projects.
There should be at least one editorial by the end of the year. Project Manager Ana-Laura Baz and the 13 employees on site at the conference were made aware of the various Wikimedia projects. The forthcoming opening of a medialab / makerspace within the Museum should help set up workshops related to Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and WikiSource. The Museum has many written documents that could be put into WikiSource.
I stay in touch with Ana-Laura Baz. I will be present at the inauguration of the M Lab (makerspace) in April and will be able to discuss upcoming Wiki projects at the Museum again. I must also put Ms. Baz in touch with the members of the Wiki Club Quebec.
