Wiki Loves Monuments
Wikimedia Canada announces its participation for the sixth year in the largest photo contest in the world, Wiki Loves Monuments. Users are invited to take pictures of historic places, then, during the month of September, upload their best shots in Wikimedia Commons. Wiki Loves Monuments is an international photographic competition to promote historic sites around the World through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). Everybody can participate.
In Canada the contest is about the 12,000 historic places listed by Parks Canada. The goal of Wiki Loves Monuments is to encourage people to take photographs of those historic places and to upload them under a free licence to allow everybody to access them on the Internet. During the month of September you can upload as many pictures of those historic places as you want. It is not necessary that the pictures have been taken in September but only the pictures uploaded during this month will be eligible for the contest.
